The Avanti was introduced as a Studebaker
in 1962. Seventeen years earlier, in 1945, the Studebaker
Corporation ran this Yuletide ad in major magazines to celebrate
a nation's gratitude for world peace. "A Christmas to
remember" is from the same era as "It's A Wonderful
Life." We can almost see Donna Reed and Jimmy Stewart
in the snow scene . . . We are proud to publish this tribute
to Studebaker's World War II
ad for the fifth consecutive year. The text of this classic
Yuletide ad is reproduced below.
This
year, the beautiful old Yuletide sentiment"peace on
earth"means something far more real to most of us than
it did at any previous Christmas . . . In this ever-memorable
year of 1945, peace is a dearly won and precious acquisition
we know we must treasure vigilantly . . . And so, as the lights
of this inspiring Christmas twinkle at our hearthsides, as
carolers sing their roundelays, and community trees gleam
with friendliness, our nation hopefully, confidently, and
resolutely faces the opportunity to shape its destiny. Studebaker
. . . Builder of cars worthy of America's homes.
