| The fifty 1984 Avanti Touring Coupes were
available in four colors: 15 silver, 12 white, 12 red, and 11
blue. In an effort to differentiate the Touring Coupe from the
1983 20th Anniversary Edition
car, black was not included, but three or four were painted
black in response to customer requests. The Touring Coupe used
"BBS" wheels and Goodyear Eagle GT high performance tires. The
steering wheel was autographed by Zora Arkus Duntov, designer
of the Corvette. Recaro seats were made standard. Fifty Touring
Coupes built at the start of the 1984 model run used a Chevrolet
LG4 305 cu. in. engine, rated at 165 horsepower. The standard
1984 Avantis, that entered production in December, used a 200
horsepower L69 version of this powerplant.
Numbers above 3899 are not Touring Coupes though some of these

1984 Avanti GT (Gran Touring)
package. Lipstick Red with Red leather interior and black
piping trim. No chrome. Out side trim is black. Dash is red
leather. Carpet is black. Air Conditoning, cruise control,
power windows, power brakes, tilt wheel steering, rear window
defrost, power mirrors for both sides, analog red gauges,
Blaupenkit cassette radio, 4 speaker system, electric sun
roof with inside slider for moon viewing, electric trunk release,
disc brakes on the front, standard 305 with 4 speed 700R4
transmission, windshield washer, etc. Informed the original
owner was a lady in Dallas, Texas area.1 of 50 GT coupes made.
Now in Richmond, Virginia. Runs perfect at 122,000.

My dad gave me this car and that was so cool then my mom took
it away and sold it. Found it in a yard where it sat for nine
years. The owner put three hundred miles on it and never gave
it a bath. Well, it's clean now and will stay that way. It's
just so cool that I have the same car again. |
