Top-Level Upgrades for Mustangs

There are a number of top-level upgrades you can make to a Ford Mustang. Despite its fairly impressive stock power and muscular appearance, the Mustang is still an entry-level sports car, and that means there’s plenty of room for making aftermarket improvements. If you want to provide your Mustang with that extra blast of horsepower, want to increase its efficiency a bit, or just want to customize its appearance so it better fits your idea of what a true pony car should look like, you can consider using some of the following aftermarket upgrade suggestions.

Performance Upgrades
If boosting your Mustang’s performance is your primary goal, then there are several strategic upgrades you can make to help you achieve it. For those drivers looking for small but substantial horsepower gains, try checking out a Mustang performance chip. A standard performance computer chip on a Mustang, when properly installed, can add up to 60 additional horsepower to your car. If you’re completely power hungry and a performance chip just won’t cut it for your needs, you can try a Mustang turbocharger, which can add up to 400 extra horsepower to your vehicle.

Efficiency Upgrades
Sports cars aren’t usually known for having impressive fuel economy, and that includes the Mustang. A performance chip can be a great upgrade in this respect as well. Not only does it boost horsepower, it can also increase fuel economy. Performance chip users can expect to save around 4-7mpg using one. Other upgrades can include the use of parts that put less wear on a car, such as lighter, fiberglass hoods. Or even saving energy by switching out halogen headlights for HIDs.

Style Upgrades
Speaking of HID headlight upgrades, there are few modifications that can as impressively improve a Mustang’s aesthetics. You can customize the color of HID headlights, so whether you want purple headlights to match your purple Mustang or simply desire some crisp white headlights, you can have them with HIDs. Mustang body kits can also make a Mustang look like a more serious racing machine, and add some bit to its appearance. Rear spoilers can work as well, but you have to be careful using one on a Mustang: the line between fierce-looking and tacky is quite thin.

There are hundreds, even thousands of potential other upgrades for Mustangs that we certainly couldn’t fit in one article. But if you make a few essential changes, you can lift your Mustang out of the entry-level doldrums of existence and into the reigns of the truly impressive.
