"Introducing
America's most advanced automobile.You
are looking at a new take-off point for the American automobile.
It is the Avanti by Studebaker.
Advanced in styling . . . fast yet safest of all . . . outstanding
performance and excellent roadability. A prestige car, the Avanti
establishes a new standard for pride of ownership." This
is one of the very first Studebaker
Avanti ads. In fact, some versions of this ad show the front
image of the car with an early prototype
logo that was replaced by the final one that is shown here.
The solid color upholstery was also not part of the production
interior. Nine color-coordinated upholstery/carpet
combinations were offered. The photo and signature are those
of Sherwood Egbert, the new president of Studebaker
in 1961 and the originator of the Avanti concept.
