| Richard Carpenter has loved automobiles
all his life and he maintains a collection of rare cars from
the 1950s and 1960s. The warehouse where he keeps these cars
is named "Yesterday Once More." He is an avid collector of award-winning
classic cars, including a black 1963 Studebaker Avanti and a
black Chrysler 300 convertible from the 1960s, both of which
he has owned and maintained for many years. Richard was best
known as 1/2 of "The Carpenters" singing duo. With his sister,
Karen they had many big hits such as "Close To You", "Rainy
Days on Mondays", "We've Only Just Begun", and other megahits.
Their popularity declined after 1976 due to poor record sales.
Richard's first solo recording was "Time." He would
later help open the Richard & Karen Carpenter Performing Arts
Center in Long Beach, California, where he occasionally performs.
