sped at an average speed of 161.29 miles per hour through
the "flying mile" on the salt flat speedway.

Avanti was in production, many manufacturers of relatedusually

Valvoline Motor Oil, Gabriel
Shock Absorbers, Molded Fiber Glass
Body Company, Ross Gear and Tool Company, US
Borax (of 20 mule team fame), Sears, and Mobil Oil. The
Avanti was the fastest production car on the roads and these
companies took advantage of its performance in stock
racing competitions to promote their own products.
